A Look Back at Our First Open House

Over the weekend, we hosted our very first Open House Tours at Goose Creek Gardens—and what a turnout we had! We offered two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning group was met with a bit of rain, while the afternoon tour braved the heat and humidity. Despite the weather, it was incredibly exciting to welcome so many of you to the farm.

It’s always a joy to share what we do, whether with longtime customers, new faces, friends, family, fellow farmers, or anyone curious about what happens behind the scenes at Goose Creek. As we walked through the farm, everyone was so engaged and eager to learn. The thoughtful questions and genuine interest warmed my heart.

Opening up our farm to the public is always a bit vulnerable for me. When I walk around, I tend to see the never-ending to-do list: weeds that need pulling, repairs waiting to be made, watering that needs doing. But during the tours, I saw our farm through fresh eyes—and it was refreshing.

Visitors didn’t focus on the imperfections. Instead, they saw the hard work, the beauty, the flowers. They noticed the effort it takes to grow such abundance, even among the weeds. They saw our humble high tunnels—not perfect, but productive. I’ve always believed that things don’t have to look pretty to work. Use what you have, and keep going.

Hosting this Open House gave me renewed energy. It reminded me why we do this. These days, I don’t often get to see the joy on a customer's face when they receive one of our bouquets. Unlike the farmer’s market days, our current model means less direct contact. So seeing that spark of joy during the tours was truly special—it filled my cup.

If you missed out on this round of tours, be sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter so you don’t miss future farm events. We’d love to see you next time.

Thanks for supporting Goose Creek Gardens—where flowers are grown with heart (and a little bit of hustle). 🌸
