Sunshine, Shipments & Seedlings: A Spring Rush on the Farm

A Week That Flew By

This week was a true springtime whirlwind. Between shipping orders, harvesting blooms, planting out seedlings, keeping the greenhouses watered, and squeezing in field prep whenever we could—let’s just say there hasn’t been a spare moment!

We’ve been working hard to get as many dahlia tuber and heirloom mum cutting orders out the door as possible. Next week will mark the final shipments for the 2025 season—after that, we close the books on tuber and mum shipping until fall.

Grateful for Your Support

To everyone who placed an order with us this year: thank you.

Your support helps keep Goose Creek Gardens growing—not just our plants, but our people too. Our dahlia and mum programs are what allow us to offer year-round employment for our team, something we’re incredibly proud of. Most farms aren’t able to do that, but we believe in investing in good people and building something sustainable season after season.

If you’ve had your eye on our dahlias or mums—this is your last call. You won’t regret adding these stunning, productive varieties to your garden or flower farm.

From Snow to Sunshine

After what felt like endless clouds, wind, and even late snow (!), the sun finally came out—and wow, it felt amazing.

We’re still adjusting to the heat, but we’ll take it. We rushed to get as much done in the high tunnels as possible before the midday sun made it too hot to work in there. Sun hats are back, and we’re all staying hydrated as we transition into warm-season farming.

With this break in the weather, we’ve been able to dive back into field prep and planting—and just in time.

Seedling Shuffle

The greenhouses are bursting with trays of seedlings ready to go in the ground. At this point in the season, it always feels like everything needs to happen at once. It can be overwhelming, but our team is energized and focused. We just take it one tray, one bed, one field at a time.

The planting hustle is fully underway—and the results are starting to bloom.

Hello, Spring Flowers

Anemones

The outdoor tulips are starting to pop and require constant checking (sometimes multiple times a day). The anemones are in full bloom, and we even saw the first ranunculus of the season open up this week!

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for—that first true sign that flower season is here. Before long, we’ll be swimming in blooms again.

Tomato Seedlings

Coming Soon to The Flower Shack: Garden Seedlings!

For our local customers, we’re thrilled to announce that starting in May, The Flower Shack will be stocked with garden seedlings!

You’ll find:

  • 20+ varieties of heirloom tomatoes 🍅

  • A wide range of hot and sweet peppers 🌶️

  • Seven kinds of basil and loads of fresh herbs 🌿

It’s the perfect time to start dreaming about your summer garden. We’ll be sharing more details soon.

Next Up: Thousands of Seedlings to Plant

As I write this, I’m headed out to till our first field of the season—beds need to be made, and those greenhouse seedlings aren’t going to plant themselves.

Hopefully next week, I’ll be able to share that thousands of seedlings are in the ground and on their way to becoming this season’s bouquets.

Thank You for Being Here

Thanks for being a part of our flower-filled journey. Your support—whether you shop with us, follow along, or simply cheer from afar—means more than you know.
